On Thursday 19th February 2026 Journey won its first industry award alongside Alstom in the Diversity & Inclusion in Rail category at the Rail Business Awards in Manchester. The recognition was for the fabulous world's first Pride on Rails at the Railway 200 'Greatest Gathering' at Alstom's Litchurch Lane Works in August 2025.

The parade itself was the brain child of Benjamin Goodwin, Communications Director at Alstom, who entrusted the Journey leadership with assembling our queens: Connie Tactless (Alex), Felicia (Lee), and Medusa (Tony), and gathering other people from the network to walk in the parade. The pride event elicited a sadly predictable homophobic and transphobic response on social media, but to see Tracey Barber from LNER fight back in Modern Railways through her article 'We must take power away from the prejudiced' showed what allyship is all about.
Everyone at Journey is hugely grateful to Alstom for the nomination and for their generosity in ensuring some of us could be there representing our network. Many people have worked so hard over the past three years on top of 'day jobs', and running their own local networks, to nurture Journey and help it thrive - thank you all!
