About the Event
What is life as a non-binary person like?
The week commencing July 14th is Non-Binary Awareness Week. It is placed here as it is directly between International Women’s Day (8th March) and International Men’s Day (19th Nov).
To celebrate the week we have planned an online panel discussion to help provide greater understanding into what life is like for someone who is non-binary (often shortened to ‘enby’ or NB).
The Panel
Panel Chair: Claire Magee, HR Director, Hitachi Rail (UK). She is a passionate advocate of diversity in the workplace and creating a place that is respectful and embraces all people’s differences. She is a proud ally of the NB community
Panellists: We are still finalising all the panellists but I am pleased to introduce the following:
1. Francisco Ceron-Sagastume (They/Them), Hitachi Energy (USA) – As an NB individual, Francisco will provide insight into the working world and life in the USA.
2. David Tickem (He/Him), Hitachi Rail SRS (UK) – David is the proud parent of a NB individual and will share some of his experiences and challenges in this space.
3. Phillipa Armstrong (They/Them), Alstom Rail (UK) – Our friends in Alstom have volunteered to join the panel to share the experience of working in the UK as a NB individual
4. Alessia Cavallini (She/Her), Kantar (UK) – Kantar is a leading Global Marking Data and Analytics company which produces an annual report on LGBTQIA+ lives in the UK, USA, India and South Africa (available here). Alessia is a co-author of this report, a shortlisted Future ‘Leader of the Year’ at the Diva Awards and ‘Top 100 Future Leader’ by Involve Outstanding.
Format
We have blocked out 2 hours to ensure there is enough time for Q&A. Each speaker will be presented with a small number of pre-defined discussions points after they introduce themselves. We will then open the floor to moderate questions from the audience.
The session will be open to Hitachi colleagues, members of the Journey Network of Networks and other interested organisations.
We will recoding the session and Q&A, but will enable anonymous question submission and commenting through the Teams Application.
