About the Event

RSVP for eventbrite link for free tickets, and Teams link for live stream

As part of 2025 Black History Month, themed Standing Firm in Power and Pride, we are honoured to welcome Jason Jones, a Trinidadian-born human rights defender who made history in 2018 by overturning colonial-era laws criminalising same-sex relationships in Trinidad and Tobago.

Jason’s courageous legal battle not only transformed LGBT+ rights in the Caribbean, but also continues to inspire activists across the world. His story speaks to the power of resilience, visibility, and community — themes that resonate deeply with this year's Black History Month theme and the transport sector’s own journey of breaking down barriers and moving society forward.

Importantly, Jason’s journey is also rooted in transport: earlier in his career, he worked on the London Underground, giving him a unique connection to the industry and its people. This makes his return to speak at this event all the more special.

This event promises to be both moving and energising, offering a chance to hear Jason’s extraordinary journey firsthand while connecting with colleagues across the transport industry.

About Jason Jones

Jason Jones (born 1964 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago) is a celebrated LGBT+ activist who successfully challenged the constitutionality of colonial-era laws that criminalised consensual same-sex intimacy. Despite facing significant personal risk and opposition, he pursued his case through Trinidad’s High Court, resulting in a landmark 2018 ruling hailed globally as a victory for equality.

Jason continues to campaign for human rights across the Caribbean and beyond, using his platform to inspire change, courage, and justice.
